“Vegan Weekend Holiday”
Vegans: DO NOT PURCHASE THE BREAKFAST BUFFET. With that out of the way, let’s review this hotel. Website Transparency: ★☆☆☆☆ • The APA hotel website advertises that this hotel facilitates in-room massage services. But what types of massages? At what prices? And at what times? It’s a mystery. • The APA hotel website also advertises having a breakfast buffet. But what foods are provided? Are there options for vegans, halal, etc.? Is allergenic information labelled on the food options? What beverages are available? Another mystery. • False information is provided. The website says “Air-Conditioning is centralized and temperature cannot be regulated. Switching between cooling and heating depends on season and outside temperature.”; however, in fact the temperature and fan speed COULD be regulated with the in room controls… Since the building uses central heating/cooling, however, you cannot switch to “heating” in summer, or “cooling” in winter. In other words, the hotel determines if your climate control is a heater or cooler, but you get to decide the mildness/intensity within the room. Pre-arrival communications: ★★☆☆☆ • I emailed the hotel directly, and their response times usually took 12+ hours, but sometimes as long as 2½ days. After seeing so many staff standing around in the lobby, behind automated self‑check‑in machines, this extended gap in communication is inexplicable. • I asked them about the on‑site massage services. Full disclosure: It’s ¥5000/45 minutes, or ¥6500/hour. Furthermore, it’s only offered on Monday‑Friday evenings from 7pm‑2am, closed on Saturdays and Sundays. The nature of the massage courses was never explained to me (e.g. neck, back, limbs, head, oil/dry, etc.), nor the booking mechanism. • I asked them about early-check in, which the website doesn’t clarify much on the matter. Full disclosure: It’s ¥2000/hour before check‑in time at 3pm. If you want to check‑in at 12pm, that’s ¥6000 for early check‑in (about the cost of one night’s stay; abysmal). • However, this hotel offers to hold your luggage until check‑in time, free of charge. This is an acceptable compromise… but again, the price (free) is neither specified on the website nor in their email communications to me. • The finally replied to my question about the price of holding my luggage 3 days after their initial reply to me, but that was the day after I already checked‑in, so the information was completely redundant. In other words, I had anxiety about the matter until I physically arrived at the hotel. The whole purpose of emailing them in advance was so that I could arrive in peace. Arrival: ★★★☆☆ • Upon arrival, you can leave your luggage with a QR code system. However, the programmer of the QR code generator has a fatal flaw: the QR code generated does not have the mandatory “Quiet Zone” (i.e. a 4‑block wide border around the QR code) surrounding it. This is an invalid QR code, and is completely unprofessional, because it meant my phone’s dark-mode browser ruined the false border of the QR code, making it unreadable. Fortunately, the hotel staff recognised this immediately, and asked me to change my browser into “light‑mode” and then screenshot the QR code. But seriously, this is ridiculously poor programming. • The luggage reservation service was otherwise dependable, and I’m very thankful it was free. • The check‑in process was very awkward. I was instructed to go to one of the counters, and I greeted the hotel staff standing there, but suddenly another hotel staff member appeared from beside me and directed me to check‑in with the machine in front of me. • He asked for my passport, which was awkward, because I live in Japan, I don’t have a passport. • He then had me register my information, including address and phone number, into the system under the ENGLISH language option. This was awkward again, because I live in Japan… my address does not translate perfectly in English, and it would have been easier to do it in Japanese. • Further

“【Title】 Prime location directly connected to Higobashi Station! A hotel guaranteed to be revisited for a comfortable stay.”
The location is outstanding, just outside the exit of Higobashi Station, making it easy to access both Minami and Umeda, which was perfect as a base for tourism and business! During check-in, when I seemed to be pondering a bit, the staff casually said something to me and continued to provide support at just the right distance, which felt really comfortable. Their service was ideal—non-intrusive yet solidly supportive when needed. The room was clean and comfortable! The double bed was large and cozy, but since my room was compact, the distance to the vanity was a bit close, making it somewhat tricky to pull the chair in and out... That said, it wasn't problematic enough to bother me. Also, I would have loved to have an air purifier, but that’s a luxurious wish. It was unfortunate that I couldn't use the breakfast or large public bath due to my own schedule! I definitely want to take advantage of them next time. It seems the hotel was undergoing renovation, so I’m looking forward to seeing the revamped facility. When I visit Osaka again, I will surely use this hotel again!

“First Time In Japan!”
I booked this hotel months in advance because it was one of the lowest prices at the time. For the money I spent, which was not much at all for 10 days, it was really clean and the staff were all very friendly. I spent a lot of time exploring, but even when I came back around 2-3 in the morning I’d have a bag of clean stuff on my door most days. The rooms are also really cool but was perfect for a single person, but the bed was big enough for two people. Also, the Yotsubashi train station is literally just outside the door. I would recommend!
