“5-Star Hospitality Disguised as a 4-Star Stay — Truly Memorable Experience in Miyakojima”
We recently stayed at Canopy by Hilton Okinawa Miyako Island Resort and honestly, despite officially being a 4-star hotel, the service felt truly 5-star throughout our stay. The entire team is trained brilliantly. Everyone was incredibly warm, attentive and professional — from Yula to Kamala, and especially Toshiko, who was exceptionally knowledgeable and made a lasting impression on us. We were also very grateful to receive a complimentary room upgrade when availability allowed. What stood out to us most was how genuine the hospitality felt. In some other hotels during our Japan trip, we often felt pushed toward paid upgrades, whereas here everything felt natural, thoughtful and guest-focused. The sea view rooms are beautiful, the rooftop pool is stunning, and housekeeping organized the room impeccably every day with great attention to detail. The breakfast buffet is slightly more catered toward Asian travelers, but there was still a very good variety of Western options as well — especially considering this is officially a 4-star property, we really could not complain. Travelers should also absolutely try the Mexican-inspired rooftop restaurant. The atmosphere in the evening combined with the ocean views creates a really special experience. As owners of a boutique windmill retreat in Portugal called Moinho Pangeia, we love staying in hotels like this because they genuinely inspire our own hospitality business and guest experience philosophy.
