Hongdae hotels & places to stay

I highly recommend Roi House !! First, it is located at a hip area for mostly young people for shopping and many other establishments. While I am not as young as most of the crowd in Hongdae area, I still enjoy the area very much. Roi house is very near the exit #3 of Hongik University station. There is a nice park if you wanted to walk and sit for relaxing. While I stayed at the dorm room for females, I have seen the private rooms and they are beautiful and I believe they all have private bathroom and showers. The staff is always very kind. Kim is very hardworking and does a great job to keep the Roi House in great shape. Whether you are traveling or you just need a break from things even if you live in Korea, Roi House has that therapeutic effect to let you move forward while you enjoy what Hongdae area offers. :)

Its cheap, clean, close to the subway station and the staff is super nice! Its also close to the lively center of Hongdae which is amazing for both shopping and going out. As soon as I got here I made friends and we went out for dinner and came back for a drink before going to the clubs. (they definitely have some amazing clubs around here) I only stayed for 1 night but it was definitely an unforgettable one! I will definitely come back here again :)

location: the hotel is located 5 minutes walk away from hongik u (hongdae) exit 3/4. it is relatively easy to find with a map. there are many food shops along the road and also family mart and a supermarket for your grocery needs (also a starbucks barely 50m away). of course hongdaes famous nightlife is just a 10 minutes walk away from the dorm. the place is still very quiet and peaceful at night since the hip part of hongdae is over at the other exit (i believe exit 9). facilities: the guesthouse looks relatively new and all the facilities are very clean! there is no aircon in the room though but it was spring when i visited and it was already very cold without it. room looks very nice and room size is ok for the price you pay. i can still open my luggage. there are toilets and showers on every floor but perhaps my only gripe is that males could only use the 1st 4th and 5th floor toilets/showers so even though i stayed on the 2nd floor i had to go down just to pee t.t. the nicest thing about the guesthouse is probably the common area in the basement where the pantry and laundry area is also located. theres games and computers and a dart machine, this is where you can mingle around and make friends with the rest of the travellers! staff: very friendly staff who can also speak english! ivan @ the front desk is very nice and helped me out with alot of my requests! minook also was very fun and we jammed in the common area with his guitar! i had so much fun with simon park sungmin who invited me to go out to club with him and his friend on my last night in seoul! and the next morning when i realised i had dropped my t-money and did not have won to go to the airport, simon gave me 4000 won for me to take to the airport! very kind soul and i owe him alot for saving my life!lol thank you simon! conclusion: i had so much fun at this guesthouse! friendly people, nice and clean facilities and for an affordable price!... what more can you ask for!

I initially booked this place for only 3 days before I hopped to another hostel that my friends recommended. Honestly wish I just stayed at Birdsnest the entire time. I even went as far as leaving my hostel in Itaewon two days early so I could book this hostel again. Highly recommend staying here. Why? 1. The staff here are some of the coolest people ever. Super down to earth and willing to give you recommendations / hang out with you. 2. It felt like home. The environment was just very welcoming. Obviously, as a solo traveler, it's nice meeting people and this hostel allowed me to do just that. Of course you have to make an effort to socialize but the environment matters. Birdsnest has two living rooms that really welcomes guests and workers to socialize. 3. Location. Hands down my favorite area. If you're looking for affordable Korean dishes, bars, cafes, etc - Hongdae is a great location. Highly recommend you give this place a shot. It's affordable, located in a great area and more importantly the people here are awesome. I had the best experience of visiting Seoul because I got to meet so many people from this hostel.

I was traveling seoul to meet some of my friends, so I had to stay in some guest houses. Cocoa guest house was the best among the guest houses that I have stayed. Staff there was so friendly and nice. The room was so clean and comfortable. Location was in the center of Hongdae area, and it was close to sangsu station. If I should stay in Hongdae area, I'll definitely stay in this Guest house.

I had an amazing experience here. Got a great deal to start out with and I had nothing to complain about about the whole experience. Oscar is an awesome dude and will help you out with anything you need. Bedroom, sheets, bathroom, and kitchen were all clean. They have free bread and coffee, so not too much of a breakfast, but better than nothing. You can buy your own food and cook it there if you want though. If you're in Hongdae to party, this is your place to go. It's surrounded by bars and clubs so it can get a little loud outside but not too bad. If you aren't too picky it won't be a problem

I was only here for a day in the female 6-person dorm. The female floor has one bathroom that is shared by 3 rooms. However, it was pretty clean, and they provided clean towels, shampoo and body wash. There was also a nice vanity space in the living room area for the female floor with a large mirror (plus hairdryers and a curling iron), so it was really nice to get ready there. All the doors (even the ones to the room) had a digital-lock with a passcode, so I didn't have to worry about safety issues. Most importantly, the bed was very clean and the blanket smelled nice also. I loved how there was a curtain on each bed, which made it extra cozy and gave a bit of privacy for the guests. Location-wise, it was super close to the Hongdae station exit 3 and the Yeonnam Gyeongui Line Forest Park. For its price, the guesthouse was absolutely wonderful! The staff was super friendly and helpful also. I would definitely go back here if I have to stay in Seoul for a budget.

I love this hostel so much. I was a bit lost at first but found my way. The hostel is pretty much near the Hongik station Line 2 Exit 8. It was 30 minutes before closing time when I arrived and gladly I was able to checked in. The staffs are friendly and super nice. Love it! I booked for 1 bed in a 6-bed dormitory but the manager(?) gave me a bed in a 4-bed dormitory (I didnt have to pay for the extra) which is better. Super thanks for that! The room for 4 is spacious enough for me. It has curtains which provides enough privacy. Towel and toiletries were provided. The bed is a bit hard though but its okay. This hostel is surrounded with a lot of restaurants, convenience stores, and also near to the hongdae park. It feels like home. Overall, I had a great stay and would definitely book here again when I come back in Korea.

Personally felt the place was a little far from the station which takes about 5-10mins walk. Guesthouse is quite hidden from the busy hongdae streets, very quiet and private. But nearby there's many cafe and restaurants available. Facilities is very clean and well-maintained and face towels are provided too. Very friendly staff that I met when I got to the guesthouse and I'm really impressed by their efficiency because I started submitted my booking in the morning and by 1 afternoon, my bed was ready and the staff allowed me for an early check in.

I only experienced two "flaws" during my whole stay: 1. I really had a hard time locating it especially it was raining and I was pushing my very heavy luggage and I was alone. I had to ask a Store Staff and the Hongdae Tourist Information Desk but still wasn't able to locate it. Eventually I just followed my own instincts and it brought me to it. Remember: Enter the road opposite of the park where students perform (where you can see most of the cheap shops selling clothes), turn left before Etude House and then turn left again before the Korean Dessert Cafe. It's in front of the Taco place where a number of Koreans hang out. Usually it's packed. The hostel is above a cafe. Good luck!! LOL 2. The stairs!!! Huhuhu the hostel didn't have a lift so I had to carry my luggage up to the 3rd floor. -- THAT'S ALL -- INTERACTION WITH STAFF AND FELLOW GUESTS: My whole stay in this hostel was superb!!! I had the opportunity to interact with my fellow guests, they're now my friends in real life! Haha. During my first night, James invited us for dinner and we had the yummy KBBQ! At first I was skeptical since it's my first time checking in a hostel but then I warmed up around them. Everyone was very friendly and cheerful. LOCATION: Right in the center of Hongdae nightlife, restaurants streets, and shopping alleys. But still undeniably quiet at night. I don't know how but I'm impressed! CLEANLINESS AND COMFORT: I booked one bed in a 4 all female dormitory and it was okay for me. Worth the money. Just the ventilation sometimes was so hot because one of my roomies preferred to turn off the airconditioner since it was directly above her head. But still, give-and-take since we were sharing the room. There was more than enough toilet and shower for everybody. I mostly woke up early to make sure I wouldn't interrupt anyone's schedule since I really take time bathing. When booking, you have to consider that it's a hostel. Couldn't have expected a better place to stay, the owner was very helpful during my stay here. He even took us out to some of the highly recommended restaurants. The hostel is pretty close to Hongik University Station (Exit 1 or 9 is fine), about 5-minute walk away. Also, Hongdae is just a stone's throw away, which is always bustling with plenty of street food as well as restaurants. If you need anything late night, you'll still be able to find many convenience stores nearby. Bathrooms are clean with hairdryers provided, so couldn't have asked for more especially when the price and location are considered!

This property is located strategically nearby Hongdae, can easily access Sangsu subway station or just 5 mins walk to the popular Hongik University streets. Clean and comfortable as the place is quite new with towels provided. There is also a comfy common area with TV and desktop. The only turn off is that there’s only one shared bathroom on each floor. Would definitely stay there again for the location and cleanliness.

Absolutely amazing. They emailed us asking us what time we will arrive. as we arrive no one there but they put the note near the door on the 1st floor. given us the pass for wifi and all the contact that we can use to contact them. we get in the house safely. the room for 4 was super cozy. not long after that, Nara came to say hi and show us around the house. the house have everything except TV. well, who need a tv when u are in Hongdae? I love the Apple juice they prepared for the guest, and bread + Jam for bfast. What i love the most is the location. 2 minutes walk from exit 3 to the house. you wouldnt love anything else better than this when you are visiting Korea during coldest winter in 5 years. TT_TT love the place alot. im not gonna book at other place after this for my next trip to seoul.

Upon arrival, no one was there so we had to call (but phone number wasn't easy to see) and then wait a while. Then, the guy tried to get us to change rooms from the one we had reserved. We got a large room downstairs, but it was pretty old-looking. Place is in Hongdae, near bars and restaurants but not too close that it's noisy. A little tricky to find, as it's down a side-alley.

Comfortable and clean facilities not far from Hongdae, with lockers and towels included. The owner personally ensures that the hostel remains very clean. There is plenty of natural lighting and rooftop access. The location is also near several nice restaurants and pubs. The only downside is that the facilities can be a little understaffed at times, and there are only two bathrooms.

I had an amazing time at Crossroad Backpackers ! ! For one, the location is excellent ! Extremely close to the busy areas of Hongdae (lots of restaurants, bars, clubs, convenient stores and shopping) but not too noisy. The staff at Crossroad is the best you can dream of. Extremely nice and friendly, and always ready to help you (they helped me order food several times) ! They always make sure you're having a good time. They all speak good English. The Wednesday chicken party they organize among a lot of other events are a good occasion to enjoy the true hostel life and meet new people. The rooms are super comfortable. They provide an outlet per bed, a personal lamp, hangers and a safety case. The bathrooms (3) are always sparkling clean and they provide you with shampoo, body gel and soap. The common room is very cool with the picture tree, a TV, a computer and even an old arcade game. The kitchen is really convenient and you can cook anything you want very easily. There is also a rooftop terrace where you can enjoy the sunset and drink/smoke as you like. I really had an amazing time at Crossroad and met really good people so I encourage anyone reading me to book as fast as possible ! You won't regret it. I'll be going back as soon as I can !

It was a really good stay this time as there was only one other girl in the room I stayed in for the two nights I was there. I only needed it for sleeping and Big Choi's is always good for that. I was going to go salsa dancing which there are some good places in Hongdae where the guesthouse is located, but I wasn't feeling well, so decided to skip dancing. It was a good stay.

ZIBRO S guesthouse is super close to the subway and Hongdae. The streets near Hongdae provides affordable and quality food as it is close to the university. There are many cheap shops which provides quality apparel with vibrant students and night life in the area. The rooms and bathing area are extremely clean as the guesthouse is only several months old. Host is very kind and can communicate in english well.

Really enjoyed my stay here, great location right near the Hongik Uni subway stop which was a really good location for getting to all the main tourist sights. Also hongdae was a lovely place to stay with lots to do at night and a lovely park. Breakfast was lovely, you get an egg every morning and can help yourself to coffee, juice, toast and cereal. The man who was working there was helpful. As a solo female traveller I felt very safe here. Only downside being it wasn't very social and quite quiet but didn't matter as I was out most of the time and there didn't seem to be many toilets/showers.

I actually booked 4 dormitory bed very last minute but the host is very kind enough that they upgraded me to private room because I requested for lower bunk bed. The private room is great but I wish they would add blinding to increase the privacy. The bathroom is really clean and comfortable bed. But the location is not really strategic, not lively area even though is in Hongdae. 1 more thing is the hostel is located after a very steep road, those who taking big luggage would be hard. Overall everything is alright.

My stay in Hongdae Family Housetel started with a surprise: no elevator. Fortunately our room was located in 2nd floor and the friendly owner/staff helped us with our belongings. The check-in and check-out were easy, just show your hotel voucher. The room was clean and it was pretty spacious. They applied Korean culture in the room, meaning you should take off your shoes/sandals in the entrance, but slippers were available. Hot water and air conditioner worked well. They even had heating system on floor for winter. Room was equipped with coded security system, so you only need to memorize the password. The owners/staffs were friendly. Find Mr. James Kim if you wish to speak to someone who speaks English well, but everyone would try their best to help you. They even taught us how to go to local supermarket. Free breakfast of toast and cereals were available in the common room. You just need to clean up after yourself. Breakfast time was 8-10 a.m. Better to eat in the morning when there are not too many people since the dining table was not too big. The nearest subway station can be reached by walking around 10 mins. Hongdae area where lots of shops, cafes and restaurants can be reached by walking around 15 mins. In Hongdae area, you can visit Trick Eye museum and watch Nanta perfomance. Hongdae map is available in a kiosk in subway station, or you can just visit tourist information in Hongdae. Better to get Hongdae map so you can find this hostel easily.

As a first timer in Seoul, I was initially concerned about picking a place which is convenient and accessible via subway. Grape Garden is highly recommended because it's value for money, staff was awesome since I booked in Singapore (thank you, Min!). Min even helped me book my airport taxi service. Grape Garden's location is perfect. It's located right smacked in the middle of the vibrant shopping area of Hangik Uni (Hongdae) yet at a quiet and peaceful street. It is also near Ehwa Uni and Sonchin shopping, eating areas. I had a great and easy time exploring the areas via subway or foot. Room was clean, simple and well-maintained. Hair dryer, hot shower, clean shared kitchen and comfortable bedlinen well-appreciated by us! It is also a minute walk away from 7-11 and many eateries/cafés. Thanks for the memorable and comfortable 8 nights. We also loved seeing the fluffy cat once in a while. We will be back. ❤️ - Emelda (Singapore)

This guesthouse is suitable for female backpacker who is looking for budget stay when traveling to Seoul. Although it is budget guesthouse, but it has everything backpacker needed: comfortable bed, clean bathroom equipped with shampoo, hairdryer and hair straightener, quiet environment where you can relax yourself after whole day exploring Seoul. Guesthouse is accessible: Just 10 mins walking distance from Hongdae station (Line 2) and Sangsu station (Line 6). Have few convenient stores nearby, you can fix your ramen cravings in the middle of night. Restaurant, café, Hongdae shopping district, bars and clubs is within the walking distance too. Friendly and welcoming staffs/owners definitely were the highlight of the stay. The staffs/owners were fluent in English so don’t have to worry about the language barrier here! :)

it was a bit hard to find. I had to use google maps, but once I found it I was greeted by Thor their black lab and had an easy check in. The staff were really helpful and the location is in the heart of everything. pros: adjacent to a raccoon cafe i love animals so I enjoyed playing with the dog and cat. conveniently located in Hongdae and its nightlife cons: no elevators and it is on the 4th and 5th floor hard to find if you don't have it mapped out it can get a bit smelly owning to the fact that there are 2 animals indoors... but if you are used to being around animals it wouldn't be too bad. i had no problems but just putting this out there for those of you with a sensitive nose. also the animals will make a mess- so DO NOT leave anything around that you wouldn't want a 70lb lab puppy to get in its mouth. other than that it was clean and comfortable and I would stay there again... directions there-- take the hongdae exit 9 ( i think) and it leads you to the busy area. from the stairs out you walk straight until the intersection. There will be a H&M on your left- cross the road and go all the way to the end. at the other intersection, cross the road and stay straight. There will be a Baskin Robbins on your right and a 7-11 in front of you. Turn right after the Baskin Robbins and stay straight, the raccoon cafe is on your right and the hostel will be in front. Look up and you will see the blue sign.
