This was our second time staying at HOTEL THE BOTANIK SEWOON MYEONGDONG, and while we still appreciated many of the features that made our first visit enjoyable, we did encounter some unexpected issues this time. ⸻ What We Continued to Appreciate: • Consistent Spaciousness & Cleanliness Just like our previous stay, the suite was clean, well-maintained, and felt spacious—ideal for a family trip. It continued to offer the comfort of a serviced apartment rather than a standard hotel room. • Well-Equipped Suite The amenities like the small kitchen, microwave, bar counter, and utensils remained very convenient. Bottled water was again provided, which is a nice touch. • Great for Families The two-bedroom layout (despite one room being compact and without a door) still worked well for our family of three, offering enough space for everyone to relax. • Helpful Staff & Good Location Staff remained professional and courteous, with some fluent in English. The location near the metro and convenience store is still a plus, though the area remains underdeveloped. ⸻ What Went Wrong This Time: • Electrical Issue on Final Night Unfortunately, on the last night of our stay, we experienced what appeared to be an electrical short circuit. There was a loud noise during the night, and by morning, both the fridge and dryer had stopped working. This was inconvenient, especially as we had planned to do laundry before departure and had food items stored in the fridge. • Safety Concerns The loud electrical noise was quite startling, and it raised concerns about the electrical stability in the room. This hotel honestly blew us away with the facilities they had; their rooms were really clean and felt so new. The room had an oven with a microwave function, a washing machine (no detergent provided so you'd have to bring your own, or just get one packet for 1000KRW at the reception). Most impressively, there was an airdresser as a quick, easy alternative to washing our clothes every day. Coming home smelly from the BBQ spots we visited, this was such a quality of life feature to remove the odour from our clothes, making it feel fresh again!! Check-in and check-out were really easy, with self-check in/out machines provided as well. Location wise, the hotel is SO convenient to all the places we wanted to visit in Seoul; Gwangjang market is a short 5-10min walk away; Myeongdong is a direct bus/train (or you could honestly walk there too); places like Anguk, Seongsu, COEX Mall (World Trade Center) are situated on the same train line in which Hotel Botanik is at. The buses here take like less than 7min to arrive which is so impressive. There's the Incheon Limousine bus that takes you to Hotel Kukdo, and is a 5min walk away from Hotel Botanik. Overall this hotel was such an accessible, clean and luxurious accommodation!! This hotel was definitely more than just a place to stay during our trip - it was one of the highlights of this visit to Seoul!

I recently stayed at a hotel near Eulji-ro 3-ga, and I wanted to share some honest thoughts about the experience. First off, despite the listing or impression it may give, the hotel isn’t actually very close to Myeongdong. To get to Myeongdong Street, you’ll need to take a bus, and it takes about 10 minutes to get there. In terms of location, it’s a bit off the main areas. Whether you choose to use the metro or the bus, you’ll still need to walk around 6–7 minutes to reach the hotel, which can feel quite tiring after a full day of sightseeing and walking. On the plus side, the hotel itself is relatively new — we could still smell the new furniture when we checked in, which was a nice touch. I had booked a suite room thinking it would include a bathtub (something I thought my kids would enjoy), but unfortunately, it didn’t. I suppose I should have double-checked the room details more carefully, though for a 4-star hotel, I did expect certain standard amenities like body lotion, which wasn’t provided. Toothbrushes and toothpaste were also not included — something I’ve noticed might be common in Korean hotels, but still worth mentioning. I chose the suite room with the hope of giving my family a more comfortable and memorable experience, especially since it was the final leg of our trip — and also our wedding anniversary. I felt a value that exceeded the price and would definitely like to use it again. It's a hotel that's been open for about a year, and the facilities are clean, giving a good impression of thorough cleaning. The room has a kitchen, a microwave, a large refrigerator typical of a household, a washing machine (without a drying function), and solid storage shelves. There are minimal cutlery, dishwashing detergent, sponges, and other convenient items that make the stay enjoyable. I bought ice cream, Greek yogurt, chamomile, and honey vinegar from convenience stores and enjoyed them during my stay (since there was no knife provided, I used one I brought, though it might be possible to borrow one). The rooftop garden is also spacious and beautiful, with a nice view of the South Mountain Tower. There were benches, so I had some makgeolli there. The room size is decent as well. It doesn't feel cramped even when I place a suitcase and hang laundry (though it might feel small to Westerners?). Additionally, the soundproofing was well done. Within the facility, there is a 24-hour free gym and a convenience store (with an emart24 inside the building and GS25 next door), and Cheonggyecheon is nearby, making it convenient for trips to Euljiro 3-ga Station on Line 2 and to Hongdae. It's also within walking distance to Jongno, so accessing Line 1 should be easy as well. Of course, the bus stop is just a 3-4 minute walk away. If I were to mention some negative points, the water pressure was slightly weak, and there was a construction site next door that made the view from the balcony not very good. Also, during my stay, the free luggage storage service was discontinued, and it became paid to store suitcases. The first four hours cost 5,000 won, and it seems that you have to store it in a locker yourself. I was informed that after four hours, additional charges would apply for every hour thereafter. As I usually arrive in Seoul on early morning flights, this change is disappointing. The Nine Tree Parnas Dongdaemun has a similar system but it's free. I wish they would make it free as well. The fees seem a bit too high. However, overall, it was very comfortable, and I would definitely like to use it again.

We recently stayed at HOTEL THE BOTANIK SEWOON MYEONGDONG and overall had a very pleasant experience, especially as a family of three. Here’s a breakdown of what we loved—and a few areas that could be improved for future guests. ⸻ What We Loved: • Spacious & Comfortable Suite We stayed in a two-bedroom suite with queen beds in each room. While one of the rooms was compact and just fit the bed (without a door), the suite overall was very spacious. It felt more like a serviced apartment than a standard hotel room—perfect for families or longer stays. • Clean & New Facilities The hotel is newly opened and spotlessly clean, which made a strong positive impression and added to the comfort of our stay. • Convenient Amenities The suite came well-equipped with a washer and dryer, a small kitchen (including a microwave oven, fridge, utensils), and a counter bar table with chairs. Bottled drinking water was also provided, which we appreciated. • Comfortable Layout Although there were no notable views from the two small balconies, the suite was thoughtfully laid out with ample space to move around—never feeling cramped or restrictive. • Climate Control Full air-conditioning and heating were available throughout the suite, making it easy to stay comfortable regardless of the weather. • Location While not the most scenic, the hotel is conveniently located within an 8–10 minute walk from the nearest metro station, making city travel quick and easy. • Nearby Convenience Store A GS25 store is located nearby—perfect for picking up snacks, drinks, or light groceries. • Helpful Staff The hotel staff were professional and courteous, with some speaking very good English. They also provided luggage storage after check-out, which was extremely helpful. ⸻ What Could Be Improved: • Surrounding Area The neighborhood is still under development, with many old shoplots that appear abandoned or used as warehouses. Alarmingly, a nearby building caught fire just a day after we checked out, which was quite unsettling. • Limited Dining Options There are very few eateries close by, so be prepared to walk further or take transport if you’re looking for dining choices. • Hard to Locate Being a new hotel, signage is minimal and it’s not immediately obvious where to go for the lobby or check-in, especially if it’s your first time visiting. • Taxi Access Issues Most taxi drivers had difficulty locating the hotel or finding a convenient spot to pick up and drop off guests. • Missing Essentials Toothbrushes are not provided (though available for purchase), and housekeeping is not offered for stays shorter than two nights. • No Full-Length Mirror There’s no full-size mirror in the suite, which would be appreciated, especially for female guests. • Awkward TV Placement The TV in the larger room was oddly positioned in a corner, not aligned with either the bed or the sofa. This made it awkward to watch comfortably from anywhere in the room. ⸻ Overall Impression: Despite a few inconveniences related to the hotel’s surroundings and some minor in-room design flaws, we truly enjoyed our stay.
