“Mountain Lodge made this Baguio trip extra special”
The place has a very homey feel, and even though it really needs some refurbishing, there’s something comforting about it. I really enjoyed the details throughout the lodge—the carefully chosen displays, the fireplace in our room (one of the best experiences I’ve had), the warm lighting, and the cozy wooden cabin lobby/restaurant. It was all so relaxing, especially with the cool weather outside. However, there are a few areas for improvement. I had lots of bed bug bites on the first day 'til our last, which made it uncomfortable for me to sleep due to the itchiness. Additionally, the Wi-Fi in the basement needs improvement, as the signal in our room was poor. Reliable internet access for guests staying in that area would be a great addition. I also found the creamy pasta to be more floury than creamy—it seemed like it had a mix of flour and water instead. I wouldn’t mind paying a bit more for better food in such a cozy setting. Our room faced the parking lot, so we could hear people talking, singing, and car engines. While it was a bit distracting, it was manageable for us. On a positive note, the restaurant staff were all very nice! Their friendliness was consistent from our check-in to our check-out. However, the receptionists could be more approachable. They seemed a bit serious, which made us feel like we were bothering them. While they weren't mean, a smile and a warm greeting would go a long way in making guests feel welcome. They didn’t ask how our room was or how our first night went, so I chose not to mention the bed bug issue, feeling that they wouldn’t care. Despite these challenges, I really appreciated the little touches in our room and the lobby. We plan to return, and we hope to see some improvements, as this property truly has great potential!
